Making the pure water is a very essential step in the quality of water used in the carbonated drinks production line.
Why is it very important?
The quality of the pure water affects the taste and the safety of drinks. If the water contains impurities, heavy metals, or bacteria, the quality of drinks will decline, leading to bad taste and health risks for customers. carbon dioxide is transported by pure water, which keeps CO₂uncontaminated throughout manufacturing and storage, preserving the product's stability and hygienic qualities. Last but not least, the high quality of pure water can extend the lifespan of equipment and reduce downtime and maintenance costs. Therefore, the purity and quality of water is the foundation for producing high-quality, safe, and healthy carbonated drinks.
How do we achieve this?
The water treatment system is a key to remove the impurities, heavy metals, or bacteria. In the beginning, we used quartz sand, activated charcoal, and other precision water treatment equipment to remove the silt contained in raw water, Rust and other suspended solid matter, then we will use reverse osmosis equipment to remove bacteria, viruses, heavy metals and other organic matter in the water, and finally use ultraviolet disinfection or ozone sterilization, killing the remaining microorganisms.
After water treatment is complete, the next step is syrup preparation. First, solid sugar is fully dissolved in the sugar-dissolving kettle at an appropriate temperature. The dissolved, filtered sugar solution is then delivered by pumps, valves, and related control devices into the blending tank according to the recipe, along with purified water and other additives in the correct proportions. The blending tank thoroughly agitates the mixed solution to prepare it for subsequent carbonation with CO2.
The mixed product is cooled via a plate heat exchanger, the other side of which is connected mainly to a chiller that supplies chilled water with antifreeze added (outlet temperature adjustable between -3°C and 8°C). Using this heat-exchange method, the product can be cooled to 0°C–3°C. The cooled liquid is then transferred into the CO2 mixing tank of the beverage mixer, where, under properly controlled pressure, carbon dioxide is dissolved into the product.
After all the above steps are completed, the process moves to filling. Currently carbonated beverages are packaged mainly in three forms: PET, cans, and glass. Common PET sizes on the market are 250ml, 330 ml, 500 ml, 1L and so on; PET filling lines typically use 3-in-1 fillers. Aluminum cans are mainly200ml,300ml and glass bottles are commonly 200ml, 250 ml and 500 ml. Filling for cans and glass bottles is done with isobaric or constant-level fillers, followed by sealing. After filling, the products automatically proceed to labeling or sleeving. Once labeling is finished they go to shrink-wrapping or case-packing, and finally palletizing.
